Overall Goal

Children/youth completing primary stage are well equipped to propel peace and harmony in a pluralistic society and to continue learning actively.

Programme Purpose:

The quality of primary level instruction is improved to the extent that all pupils are adequately taught the skills designated in the primary level curriculum

Planned Results:

1.  Institutions engaged with the primary level are strengthened in their
     implementation capacity.

2. As a part of the ongoing education reform, needs-oriented curricula and
    teaching and learning materials for pre-service training, internship and
    in-service training of primary teachers are developed, tested and
    introduced nationwide.

3. Teacher pre-service and in-service training for the primary level are
    improved.

4. M + E models for primary level teacher training are developed, tested and
    introduced.

5. Basic education for children and youths with special learning needs is
    improved through building psycho-social counselling capacities
    (establishment of a school psychological service) within the school system.
